Castanea sounds Spanish but is, in fact, the Latin name for the sweet chestnut, or Spanish chestnut, tree.
The large green, incredibly spiky and unpromising seed cases which the tree produces burst open in the late autumn to reveal beautiful chestnuts, glowing brown and delicious to eat. |

We feel this represents the experience of students on our courses. Throughout the week we see the seed of their creativity burst open under the nurturing guidance of our expert tutors and produce glorious fruit. They leave CASTANEA enriched, with a feeling of great achievement, new friendship and excitement in their new found craft.
